13. 4. 18

What a busy start to the term! The children have enjoyed the beginning of of our topic 'Fire! Fire!'! We have been amazed how much they know already.

Also, our Synagogue trip finally took place.  We had a great time learning more about Judaism from Ray our guide. A big thank you to the parents and grandparents that accompanied us!

Please take a look at some of the photographs below!

16. 3. 18

This week has been 'Super' in every sense of the word! We have thoroughly enjoyed designing, making and evaluating our Superhero vehicles as part of our DT this week and we all LOVED coming to school dressed as our favourite Superhero. Some of us came to school dressed as our own Superhero and these costumes were a delight to see.

Take a look at our photos and see if you agree!

8. 3. 18

As you are aware our trip to the synagogue was cancelled due to the unexpected arrival of the snow! We will be rearranging the trip and will let you know when we have the new date.

We had a great time on Thursday morning, instead of visiting the synagogue we had a fantastic Science lesson discussing, sorting and classifying different materials. Please look at some of the photographs.

2. 3. 18

What an exciting week we've had! As if the snow wasn't enough we also had a FANTASTIC time dressing up for World Book Day! We thought we looked amazing, what do you think? Also, try and spot the 5 'Where's Wally' characters on one of our photographs.

We had a fantastic day today, sharing books and listening to stories!  We had a visit from 'Dragonlady' aka Mrs Edwards, who told us one of Dragonlady's encounters with Mr Muncher the daffodil eating baddie!

23. 2. 18

We had a fantastic hockey lesson this week with coaches from Formby Hockey Club. Please take a look at the photographs!

9. 2. 18

We have had a wonderful end to the half term. This week has been based all around Design and Technology and the children have tasted, designed, baked, decorated and eveluated a wide range of Gingerbread - delicious!  Have a look at our gallery to view our wonderful designs.  Click here to view them!

We also enjoyed an afternoon with our Year 6 Buddies this week. Year 6 had spent lots of time planning and creating various Maths games to play with us and we really did have a super afternoon.

For 2IR we had the perfect end to the half term with our Golden Ticket Reward on Friday. We snuggled down and got cosy at our pyjama party, watching a film and eating sweets and popcorn!  What more could we ask for?

Finally, just to inform you, our Outdoor Games day will be changing once again after the half term to a Tuesday afternoon. We our lucky enough to have a professional Hockey Coach coming in to teach the children which should be really great.

We hope you all have a super half term and we'll see you on Monday 19th February.

26. 1. 18

This week our student teachers have finished their seven-week placement. We are sorry to see them leave and would like to say a big Year 2 'Thank You!' to them all. We wish them lots of luck as they continue their journey to becoming a teacher.

The children are working really hard in class. In Maths we have been learning about fractions and are showing a good understanding. They have also written some super Fairy Stories in the style of Little Red Riding Hood.

The week commencing the 5th February is our DT week. We are very much looking forward to tasting, evaluating, designing and then making our own Gingerbread Men!  Busy times ahead in Year 2!

19. 1. 18

Year 2 enjoyed a super trip to the Metropolitan Cathedral to take part in the Epiphany service. We thoroughly enjoyed looking at the beautiful stained glass windows and listening to the story of the Wise Kings.

Please take a look at our PowerPoint and ask your children all about it!  Click here to view it.

8. 12. 17

What a fantastic week in Year 2!  We had lots of fun learning about the meaning of the Christingle and then even more fun making our own!

The children were very excited on Thursday when they performed the Nativity 'A Midwife Crisis' for the Reception classes. The children really enjoyed seeing each other in their costumes for the first time!

Please take a look at the photographs for a sneaky peak of some of the wonderful costumes. We are really looking forward to next week when we will be performing in front of the rest of school and families. We know that you will feel as proud of them as we are.

17. 11. 17

What a busy week we've had in Year 2!

Our Nativity rehearsals are in full swing and we are enjoying acting out our lines and singing all of the super songs. We have also been learning about the American celebration of Thanksgiving and have produced some wonderful pieces of non-fiction writing all about this.

All week we have been fundraising for Children in Need - playing games, eating toast, colouring in Pudsey bear and painting faces! WOW!

10. 11. 17

Another great week in Year 2!  The children have enjoyed writing instructions on how to make a sparkly biscuit.  We were very impressed with their instructions, some of the best writing so far this year... nothing to do with the fact that they needed clear instructions to follow in order to make their own biscuit to enjoy!

Click here to take a look at some of their fabulous creations!

3. 11. 17

This week we have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Diwali as part of our new topic 'Celebrations around the World'.

We have designed our own rangoli patterns using a computer programme and coloured grains of rice. We have also learnt about the significance of the elephant within the Hindu religion and created some beautiful handprint elephants.

Have a look at some photographs here!

13. 10. 17

This week has seen Year 2 preparing our school garden for Winter. We have turned over the beds, pulled up lots of weeds, raked and planted. We have planted a range of Winter vegetables including onions and garlic and have even planted some strawberries in preparation for Spring!

We really have enjoyed our time in the garden this week and hope you enjoy our photographs.  Click here to take a look!

6. 10. 17

What another wonderful week we have had in Year 2! We have made and decorated some beautiful origami houses and designed our own door number plates. We have also produced some wonderful writing based on our Katie Morag topic. Everyone is working so hard and we are extremely proud of them all!

22. 9. 17

As part of our topic the children have made some fantastic posters, drawings and models of their homes.

We have had such a lovely week looking at, and playing with, all of our wonderful house models. Lego houses, house posters, model houses... the list goes on. We have also enjoyed a super music lesson and watercolour painting in Art. A great week!
