Summer 1

This half term we will be studying The Great Fire of London. We will be writing first person diary entries, researching the Great Fire to answer our own questions, learning about Samuel Pepys and how to write with a quill and ink, creating a range of art work and a London house with a winding mechanism in DT and a whole lot more besides!

For this half term please note that Outdoor games is now on a Tuesday for both classes and Indoor PE is on a Thursday for both classes.

Many Thanks

In Year 2 we are pleased to announce that our SATs are finished - even though the children are still asking us when do the real 'quizzes' start! All of the children worked so hard and all of us in Year 2 couldn't be any prouder of our little stars.

Alongside our SATs we have had some fun sessions relating to our topic. We have visited the bakery at Tesco, written with a quill and ink, cracked Samuel Pepys's code and marbled some beautiful fire pictures. We have also had lots of fun learning about plants and organising our school garden for Science.

Unfortunately, the fire engine was unable to visit school yesterday as the firefighters were called out to a 'real' emergency. However, providing there are no fires to fight, they have promised to come along next Thursday instead. Watch this space.....

We are all really looking forward to STEM week next week which will be a wonderful end to a half term of hard work!

WOW - What an absolutely wonderful end to the half term we have had! STEM week proved to be a massive success enjoyed by both the children and all of the staff. Our Year 2 children have had so much fun and have participated in a range of activities including a Bubble Day making bubble art, bubble snakes and bubble wands. They have made and tested a range of helicoptors and paper planes, carried out numerous Science experiments, including the skittle experiment (ask them all about the rainbow magic) and participated in a maths roadshow alongside their Year 6 buddy to name just a few.

Just a reminder that we return to school on Wednesday 7th June. We hope you have a wonderful half term!

We have had such a super week getting our teeth into our new topic 'A Walk on the Wildside.' Just as the excitement of our chicks leaving has died down we've now got 5 little caterpillars in each class. We are looking forward to watching the transformation from caterpillar to beautiful, Painted Lady butterflies over the next week or so. We have also had a great sporty week with our annual sports day, which was a great success, despite the drizzle, and we've taken part in some blindfolded, trust building activities in PE.

Just a reminder that we are out on two visits next week, Tuesday to the Philharmonic and Thursday to Martin Mere. Watch this space for some photographs of our fun-filled week!

What a wonderful week we've had in Year 2! A trip to the Philharmonic, followed by our trip to Martin Mere and finished with cakes galore at  our annual Cake Bake!

The weather was extremely kind to us during our Martin Mere visit and we had a wonderful time. We learnt about different habitats, enjoyed looking at the various birds and wildlife and even enjoyed some after dinner down time in the playground. Take a look at our photographs in the gallery.
