Maths Homework Week ending Friday 17th May 2024

This week in maths we have continued to identify equal groups, as the first step in multiplying. There is a PowerPoint ‘Snippy the crabs shell shop’ available in the Files to download section of this website page (found below), for further explanation. It would be useful to go through this PowerPoint with your child.

For homework, why not group household items into equal groups. For example, you could put dry pasta pieces into groups on a plate. You could say:

There are 4 groups of 5 pieces of pasta

4 groups of 5 = 20

4 fives=20

There are 20 pieces of pasta.

Remember in Year 1, we learn to count groups of the same quantity more efficiently, particularly in 2’s 5’s and 10’s, as this is a year 1 expectation.

Have fun and thank you for your continued support in helping your child to become a capable and confident mathematician!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
