This week we have stareted to work out volumes of shapes using cubes to help us. The children have really enjoyed investigating the volume and being creative with own shapes to create given volumes. (See photographs)

In English we have looked at actual footage from WW2 including the D. Day landings  so that we could write about the horrors of war when the man in our animated video, "The Piano," recollected losing his comrade to a single bullet shot. The children's writing was so poignent and thoughtful.

In computing we continued programming crumbles to get lights to come on and off. This week we had to programme them to come on when a button was pressed. Everyone got their crumble and button to work.

In science we looked at the life cycles of mammals. We were shocked to learn that bats are mammals, and that platypus and echidna lay eggs but are mammals.

In RE we have continued learning about the 5 pilars of Islam and this week focussed on Ramadam and Eid.

In Games we continued to develop our cricket skills and diamond cricket. We really worked on our batting skills. We continued orienteering in PE and next week we will be teaching our buddies how to read the map and find the cards.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
