Additional Needs

Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)

Our SENDCo  (special needs co-ordinator) is Mrs Becky Wilson and her dedicated day for all matters SEND is Thursday.  She can be contacted via: [email protected]

Our Link Governor for SEND is Mrs Carol Kerr.

St Luke's is a welcoming and highly inclusive school.  We strive to give every child the best possible school experience so wherever possible pupils with SEND access the same curriculum as their peers, working within the classroom environment alongside their friends.

We take an holistic approach to every child, providing a range of formal and informal interventions as appropriate: pupils with sensory needs access sensory equipment within and beyond the classroom whilst those with social communication differences are supported in understanding and engaging with their peers and the world around them.  Pupils with specific learning difficulties access a range of support mechanisms, from small-group work to digital programmes. For those with mental or emotional health difficulties we provide support in response to individual need, drawing on the skills of both our highly experienced staff and our community partners.

We work closely with external agencies to provide tailored support for educational, health and medical needs, placing the child at the centre of our provision offer.

Why not make an appointment for a tour of school, to see our ethos in action?

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
