Reception Weekly Blog (15.9.23)

Date: 15th Sep 2023 @ 12:42pm

We have had a great week in Reception!

The children arrived refreshed on Monday and continued to settle into their new routines, they are beginning to learn everyone’s name - which is a difficult task!

We have started learning our individual sounds through the Read, Write, Inc programme this week – looking first at naming the mnemonic pictures and trying to remember them. The children have all tried their best and we are so proud of them!

We would like you to take a look at this video https://schools.ruthmiskin.com/training/view/EhwiWGbN/PQkcNTR7 which demonstrates how to say the sounds correctly, in preparation for the teaching of the individual sounds next week.

Please take some time to share a new book bag story together this week. Books will be changed each Friday.

We look forward to seeing those who can make our open afternoon at school next Thursday (21st September 2:00pm), the children can’t wait to show you around their lovely learning space.

You may have seen a ‘Caulicard’ submission in your child’s book bag, please design your own Christmas card at home and return to school by Friday 29th September.

We can’t wait for another busy week!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone, don’t forget to share your child's good news, via e-mailing a photograph to our Reception e-mail address: [email protected].

The Reception Team :)

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
