Another wonderful week draws to a close.
All the children have now spent a week with their new RWI teacher. We are really proud of the progress that all the children are making. I know that we talk about it all the time, but there is no greater gift we can give our children than a love of reading. Please continue to support your child at home by regularly revisiting the RWI flashcards, listening to them read their school books and also taking some quality time to read to them. Listening to you read is so incredibly beneficial for every child.
St. Luke's Art week has begun in earnest. We watched some of our older Range High School friends perform a variety of instruments and danced to Matilda, skipped around a maypole and belted out some tunes with a singing teacher. It is so lovely to see the children experiencing new things and working collaboratively with their friends.
Next week our Arts Week continues with more surprises in store. Watch this space...
This beautiful weather has really made us think about summer. We have been studying wild flower meadows. Who planted them? How did the flowers get there? Which minibeasts live there? The children have begun a collaborative painting, working together to share their ideas and skills to create a unique image. We can't wait to see the final piece later next week.
This week, in Understanding the World, we have been looking at Formby on a map. We have identified all the key landmarks and even spotted a few of our houses. We have had a go at creating our own maps too. Maybe you could help your child to make a map of their bedroom or their garden? Perhaps you could add a key, complete with symbols to represent different features of the area.
Hopefully the sun continues to shine this weekend. A polite reminder that suncream should be applied to your child before they arrive at school. Take care and we will see you on Monday. Ready to roll for another fabulous week.
