We have had a very busy week here in Reception, we started the week by chopping up all of our vegetables. The children impressed us with their skills, using their hands as a bridge to ensure they cut through the veg safely.

It was so encouraging to see the children persevere even when some of the vegetables were so hard to cut through. They showed a wonderful ‘never give up attitude’.

Once all the veg had been chopped, the children helped pop it in a pan to boil. Once it had all softened we watched how to blend it all together to make a gorgeous vegetable soup, we enjoyed a cup together with a piece of bread. Some children even went back for a second helping.

We introduced our first ‘number of the week’ this week, the children were thrilled to become number detectives and find out so much more about 1. They have created their very own 1 block, they have learned that a circle has one side that does not end. We got our blood pumping to see how many actions we could do in 1 minute and the children created their very own number poster to end the week. We would love to see if you can find any ‘1 things’ over the weekend. What about a first birthday card, a house number 1, or even find 1 of something.

On Thursday we celebrated St. Luke’s day, enjoying a sunshine walk to church with our buddies. The children were absolutely amazing and made us so proud, showing patience and respect. Year 4 taught us all about St. Luke on the way - how he was a doctor and took care of people. When we got back to school we spent the afternoon making friendship soup, each child popped in an ‘ingredient’ that made a good person.

We love sharing our ‘good news’ with the class and can’t wait to see what you have all been up to recently, send any wow moments (no matter how big or small) our way using the email address [email protected]

We look forward to learning our 'special friends' in RWI and number 2 in maths.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
