Another fantastic week here in Reception!
An astonishing event happened in Reception this week. When we arrived at school on Monday morning one of our caterpillars had started to harden into a chrysalis, quickly followed by the remaining 9 caterpillars who are now all beginning the amazing transformation into butterflies!
We also had a very special visitor on Monday - Miss Hesketh’s Greek Tortoise (also known commonly as the spur-thighed tortoise) - Rosie. The children were so gentle with Rosie, asking such wonderful questions and gathering Rosie’s favourite treat, dandelions, for her to enjoy. Rosie was very spoilt by the children and she loved every second!
The children are all continuing to consolidate their phonic knowledge, through revisiting the ‘special friend’ digraphs and recapping key RWI reading books. We find that revisiting previous sounds taught helps to build children’s confidence in reading, so please practise and revisit as much as you can at home.
On Tuesday, the children enjoyed having our whole class photographs taken outside. We were blessed with fantastic weather and the children were suited and booted, with super smiles to match. There was a slip placed into your child’s book bag which you can use to place your online order, before 1st July 2022.
In maths this week, we have looked at symmetry, one more and one less, as well as using the Rekenreks to deepen our understanding of subitising. The children created symmetrical butterflies using paint and enjoyed creating symmetry by copying actions and movement.
We are continuing to enjoy lots of outdoor learning. With the weather getting warmer, a polite reminder to ensure your child’s bottle is refilled each day with fresh water (no juice please).
Have a great weekend everyone, and thank you for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend ?
