Reception Weekly Blog (3.3.23)

Wow! What a fantastic week in Reception!
On Monday, we started to look at all things Number 12! We learnt that 12 is made up of twelve ones or one ten and two ones. A great way to support your child at home is to gather 12 objects and group ten into a pile. Practise counting on from ten to see how many there are altogether.
In RE this term, we are looking at which times are special and why. We will be discussing with the children which times are special to them, and how they are celebrated, as we begin to develop the children’s understanding of special times celebrated by people of faith. If you have any photographs of your child celebrating a ‘special time’: birthdays, family time, days out, local/national celebrations, please e-mail them to [email protected] to be shared with the class.
It was also World Book Day on Thursday, the children each shared a story with a friend and also took part in a whole school book quiz! What a great way to celebrate our love for reading!
A big thank you to everyone who has sent in ‘junk’ as part of our junk modelling project. The children have each designed and selected the tools, materials and components they would need to create their very own ‘space vehicle’! (e.g. a cone shape for a rocket top). The model making was also a fantastic opportunity for story-telling. We overheard wonderful story language and spotted lots of very imaginative play!
We are looking forward to our Reception trip to Imagine That on Thursday 9th March. Please can you ensure that your child is wearing a full school uniform on this day.
We can’t wait for another busy week with you, have a fantastic weekend everyone!
