Welcome to Reception

A very warm welcome to St. Luke’s, we can’t wait to share our news with you.

What a brilliant two days we have had, the children are settling well into their new routines, forming new friendships and they have made us all extremely proud, they really are a credit to you all.

On Thursday we welcomed the children to school for their very first day, we have already started to learn lots of names and exploring the different areas of the classrooms. This week we have used the story of The Colour Monster to talk about starting school and all the different emotions we may feel. We have been introduced to the story of Elmer to begin talking about how each and every one of us is special and unique, even though we have lots of similarities too. The children will continue to explore this story further next week.

The children have been introduced to their class value of ‘Kindness’, we spent some time on Friday talking together about how we can all be kind. Next week we will be looking more closely at ourselves and how each and every one of us is unique. We will talk about our families and the people who are special to us.

If your child has any good news they would like to share with the class, please send it to [email protected]

Please take some time over the next week to read through the booklet attached below, labelled ‘Information for parents RBA’.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
