Reception Weekly Blog (Week ending Friday 2nd July)

Date: 2nd Jul 2021 @ 4:16pm

Week ending Friday 2nd July 2021

This week inspired by the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen, the children have explored the story though role play – splashing through the deep cold river, squelching through the thick oozy mud, whirling though a snow storm, stumbling through the dark forest and tiptoeing into the dark, gloomy cave – and all in our ROLA!  The children have used the watercolour paints to create their own ‘Bear Hunt’ scene too, and have been making little zig-zag books to tell the story.

During our outdoor games lesson this week the children took part in sports day. We are sorry you could not join us for this, but the children really enjoyed working as a team to compete in the obstacle relay, the bean bag relay and the running relay. We also had some running races. The children were amazing, cheering their class mates on. Great team spirit and ability was displayed by all, and we are immensely proud of each and every one of them.

One caterpillar in RH has emerged as a butterfly and the remaining are still in cocoons and we are watching them daily to check for any changes.

Next week we are planning a trip to St. Luke’s church to meet Reverend Matt and on another day, we are having a Teddy Bears’ picnic on the school field (See the separate Spider email about these two events). Lots more fun to look forward to.

Enjoy the weekend.

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
