                                                  Friday 5th  July

Well, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride in Y1 this week! The bad weather on Monday prevented us from going to Range, for our Sports Day morning… the children were disappointed of course, but enjoyed their history work, learning interesting facts about the famous Grace Darling!

But we DID get to go on our beach trip on Tuesday! It was a bit drizzly on the way there but as soon as we got to the beach, the rain stopped. The children couldn’t wait to get collecting shells, digging and making a variety of sand sculptures! It stayed dry for the rest of the morning and a good time was had by all! We will be using some of our beach ‘finds’ to make close observations under the digital microscope in science next week.

On Thursday morning, the children had their second visit to Y2 and will have one more, next Tuesday morning.

This afternoon was ‘Buddy Time’ doing more ‘O.A.A.’ (Outdoor & Adventurous Activities). The children are learning how to navigate the course and use their playground area maps to find the clues.

Fingers crossed for a sunny Tuesday afternoon (Golden Ticket reward – festival on the field- Spider message sent this morning) and Wednesday morning (rearranged Sports Day @ Range High School).

Have a good weekend!

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
