                                                 Friday 10th May

Our bean diaries have continued, this week, as has the growth of our plants.  Some now reaching the height of 30cm. There are plenty of leaves appearing too!

During English, we thought about how the wolf travelled to Grandma’s house. The children came up with a fabulous collection of verbs and adverbs for this.

We commence our Birds art unit. The children closely observed a variety of birds and used fine nib pens as well as drawing pencils to record what they saw. Next week, we will use other mediums to explore feathers both 2D and 3D.

The children considered timbre, during music, concentrating on Peter and the Wolf. They recognised how timbre is used to represent the different characters in this piece of music.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
