Friday 28th  June

Another busy week in Year One!

On Monday afternoon the children explored the different apparatus for the obstacle race they will partake in next Monday morning for their ‘Sports Day’. It was a hot one!

In science work, the children investigated animal diets and learnt about ‘carnivores, omnivores and herbivores’ – sorting and classifying a variety of animals into these three categories.

In maths, the children have been learning to tell the time, starting with ‘o’clock’ and ‘half-past’. We have made our own clocks to use in this week’s home learning task.

Today the children had their first visit to Y2 as part of their ‘transition’ experience.

This afternoon was ‘Buddy Time’ working on some ‘O.A.A.’ (Outdoor & Adventurous Activities) and as always, a fun time was had, as well as learning how to follow clues around the school grounds.

Wishing you all a good weekend with some sunshine!

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
