What a super, first ‘full week’ into the new Spring term we have had! Luckily, the weather has been a little warmer and we’ve managed to get outside for most of our playtimes!!!

In maths, we have been multiplying numbers by 10 and multiplying without and with renaming, using partitioning and the expanded column method. Please ensure the children are regularly practicing their times tables to 12, as they rely on these when calculating their answers.

As part of this term’s Rainforest topic, the children have been introduced to The Great Kapok tree, in English. They have been orally retelling the story from a story map they have each created.

In Art, they created a sensory drawing, by using needles and sharp pencil tips. They explored different surfaces, to see which they preferred when producing their work, inspired by Gillian Adair McFarlane.

In Geography, the children have been finding out about The Amazon Rainforest. They have been developing their note making skills, whilst learning about the 4 different layers of the rainforest.

In science, we have started looking at the similarities and difference between living things. The children have been identifying vertebrates and invertebrates.

A ‘big’ well done to our Weekly Superstars: 4C: Sameen and Joshua 4M.

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
