Y5 blog 20/5

Date: 17th May 2024 @ 4:15pm

What a fabulous week we had last week in York. It was an absolute delight to take Y5 away, they were a real pleasure to be with the whole time. There are lots of photographs being uploaded on to the website for you to get a flavour of the fun we had and the learning that took place.

This week we have collated all our findings from York and Formby Village to compare and contrast, using averages and Venn diagrams to help sort the data. We also had a trip out to church, where we became historians, piecing together evidence from the graves and the record books to help with our enquiry questions, What caused Formby to grow and expand?"

Whilst at church we  took advantage of our location and headed in to the pinewoods to look at the habit of the red squirrel to help with our independent write - a non chronological report on the red squirrel. We also built dreys and cached food to help our understanding.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
