Y5 Blog 21.03.25

Date: 21st Mar 2025 @ 1:22pm

This week we have been putting all the polishing touches on our production and are so excited to be performing next week. Alongside this, in maths we have finished percentages and started geometry. We have recapped types of angles, introduced a protractor and started learning how to measure an angle. In science we conducted an experiment to see if heating causes a reversible or irreversible change (see photos). each group had a different material: egg, wax, cheese, butter, chocolate. We had great fun and learnt that both reversible and irreversible changes occur.

Today some y5 children are representing school in a new age curling competition and earlier in the week, the cross country team took part in 2 races. Tonight several Y5 children are performing with band at the superstar awards for children in care.

What a busy week.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
