Y5 blog 23/6/23

Date: 22nd Jun 2023 @ 5:52pm

This week has been a continuation of our Arts week and we have taken part in lots more activities with amazing artists such as Cath Last who runs Make Noise and Last Act Academy, who came in and taught us some songs from Matilda and Jennie from Outline Arts who helped us to create portraits of ourselves on polystyrene that we then used to make ink prints on a class mural. We also had a fantastic STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and maths) morning, designing and creating rockets that were powered by water and compressed air. We then went outside and used a bike pump to fire them across the field, trying not to get wet! Many Y5 children also took part in 2 concerts, one in the hall to the rest of school and then the summer concert on Wednesday evening, playing their musical instrument and singing. They made all the Y5 staff very proud.

Today we have completed our soccer sponsored challenge, supporting each other to do our very best.

What a great week.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
