Y5 Blog 31/01/25

Date: 31st Jan 2025 @ 4:01pm

This week has been very busy. We have finished our build up to writing lessons and next week we can't wait to read eveyone's independent writing based on the opening of our class novel Nowhere Emporium.

In maths, we continued consolidating our subtracting fractions with different denominator lessons knowledge and have started to learn how to multiply fractions by whole numbers.

In art we have used all our research and sketch book ideas to create clothes for a manequin that have a link to Viking fashion. Some children used Viking patterns, others used Viking colours or styles.

We also began looking at physical changes that happen to our bodies during puberty. in our Science / PSHE lessons.

Today we had exciting visitors in to talk to Y5 and 6. The local community support officers from Merseyside Polie talked to the children about Cyber Bullying. The children were really engaged and our visitors were exceptionally impressed.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
