Y5 Blog 7.2

Date: 7th Feb 2025 @ 1:27pm

This week we have been writing our stories based on The Nowhere Emporium, changing the setting to one familiar to us, time of year to a bright summer's day and the character of Mr Silver. Mrs Harper and Mr williams were really impressed with our content and presentation.

In maths we finished our unit on fractions yesterday and will start decimals on Monday. Today was also NSPCC number day and we had lots of fun, competing with all of key stage 2 to solve Buddy's Challenge (see photos) and gaining 1,000,000 on Who want to be a mathsionairre.

In history we learnt about the end of the Viking era and we looked at the consequences of Viking / Anglo Saxon actions resulting in the rise of the Normans.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
