Y5 weekly blog 06/03

Date: 7th Mar 2025 @ 11:55am

With only 2 full weeks to go until we put on our spectacular performnce, we have started to r put our scenes together with lots of rehearse in the hall, thinking about actions and movement. The songs are nearly learnt and now we need to learn our lines.

In maths, we have continued our work on decimals, ordering, adding and subtracting.

In English, we are really enjoying taking inspiration from "Gorilla" by Anthony Brown, to retell the story in detail, full of Year 5 writing elements.

For science this week, we experimentded in groups of 4 to work out which materials were soluble, insoluble or suspended.

We explored how important sleep is to us in our PSHE lesson, from the unit Keeping Healthy.

We also had World Book Day this week. Look at the photographs of our amazing costumes.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
