Y5 weekly blog 12/11/21

Date: 12th Nov 2021 @ 1:28pm

We have loved learning all about The Victorians - our new topic. Using the book Street Child, we are learning about diffent Victorian events as they happen to the main character, Jim Jarvis -through the eyes of a child. This week, he was admitted to a workhouse so we have spent lots of time researching workhouses, and how the poor and desitiute were treated, culminating in fabulous pieces of work that are even better than the research books in class.

In maths we have learnt the new short method of mutiplication for 2 and 3 digit numbers x 2 digit numbers. it has been lovely to watch the children grow in confidence as the week has progressed.

Today we also started our PSHE lessons, preparing children for our residential to York later this academic year. We are all so excited.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
