Year 1 Blog 07.02.25

Date: 5th Feb 2025 @ 4:09pm

Another busy week has flown by!

Today, we enjoyed Numbers Day, and mufti for the NSPCC, which certainly added to everyone’s enjoyment. The children enjoyed a range of ‘Numbers Day’ activities during our maths session.

The children have enjoyed practical maths activities with 2D and 3D shapes, including a shape hunt outside!

We continued thinking about the properties of materials and conducted our own investigations to find out which ones were transparent and opaque. We used torches to help us decide.

It will be Safer Internet Day, on Tuesday and we will explore this throughout the day. The theme this year is ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online.’

As part of our DT project, we would ask that the children bring in a cardboard box, approximately the size of a shoe box (but no bigger), from Tuesday 11th February.

For your information, there are some 2D and 3D key words and activites placed within the Home Learning section on our Year 1 page.

Thank you for all your continued support,

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
