Happy New Year and welcome back to school for the Spring 1 term!

Despite the cold, frosty weather and the lack of outdoor play, the children have settled very well back into school life, a big well done!

This week, we have begun to look at our new topic of Toys in the past. In the upcoming lessons, we will be discussing the different types of materials that toys are made out of and how and why they have changed over time. The children have already noticed that most of their toys are made out of plastic!

In maths, we have been solving addition equations within 20, by using ten frames to solve these questions. Please take a look at some of the photos below.

In DT, the puppets are at their final stages and the children look forward to sharing them with you.

The new Home Learning grid for Spring 1 term has been placed inside your child’s Home Learning book alongside the new red words to practice at home. We always welcome any feedback comments in the reading records and, this week, we have included the CEW (red words) and phonic sounds to continue to learn from our most recent assessments.

Thanks for continued support, it is very much appreciated!

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
