Year 1 Blog 15.11.24

Date: 15th Nov 2024 @ 3:58pm

We have had another busy and productive week in Year 1.

Science has been a focus this week. The children have been learning about five of the animal groups : reptiles, amphibians, fish, mammals and birds. Our Year 1 children enjoyed identifying the main features of these different animals groups, in preparation for our trip to Knowsley Safari Park next Wednesday 20th November.

We also raised awareness about Anti-bullying week. We welcomed visitors, from SASWT, who shared an important message relating to anti-bullying. The anti-bullying theme for this year is 'respect' and the children were left with the message to choose respect. Further to our worship, the children watched a live lesson from the Anti-Bullying Alliance. They created posters detailing the importance of being a kind friend and showing respect to one another. The children also very much enjoyed wearing their odd socks for the day!

Friday was a sea of yellow and spots for Children in Need. The children looked fantastic and were able to help raise funds for this charity. Thank you.

Have a good and restful weekend! Not many sleeps until Knowsley!

Many thanks for your continued support, we greatly appreciate it.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
