Year 1 Blog 16.6.23

Date: 15th Jun 2023 @ 11:17pm

                                                    Friday 16th June

The fun has begun! Arts Week commenced, on Thursday, and we started off on a high with our Matilda dance. The children were very excited and participated with enthusiasm. Friday saw us Maypole dancing as well as enjoying some super singing. Next week, it is time for some amazing art and drama.

Orienteering was awesome! The children collaborated marvellously when creating their letters from the stipulated equipment. Success!

We also spent time thinking about animals and grouping them according to their diets (carnivore, herbivore and omnivore). We thought about what we like to eat too, and incorporated this into the lunches we devised for Mr. Grinling, from The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. Delicious!

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
