Year 1 Blog 22.11.24

Date: 22nd Nov 2024 @ 12:47pm

Another brilliantly busy week in Year 1!

What a wonderful time we had at Knowsley Safari Park, on Wednesday! The children were excited to see all the different animals and were interested and enthusiastic throughout. We are very proud of them. Please take a look at some of the photos below… there are a lot of them.

This week, in maths, we have been learning about positional language, first, second, third and so on. The children used ordinal numbers to show the order of dinosaurs. Today, Year 1 also relished playing a maths game called ‘sum connect 4.’ This is a simple and very enjoyable game that supports the children’s knowledge of addition.

In our writing, following our trip to Knowsley Safari Park, the children wrote sentences about their favourite part of the trip. Lots of the children enjoyed seeing the fierce tigers, while others loved watching the super sea lion show.

Our preparations for the Christmas Service are just beginning. In the near future, the children will bring home further information relating to this. Watch this space!

In the week ahead, we look forward to learning even more about the animal kingdom. Please do contact us should you have any queries.

Please ensure your child's reading record and books are in their bookbag each day.

Have a lovely weekend.

Many thanks for your continued support.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
