Another busy and exciting week in Year 1!

It is nearly time for our owls to fly the nest. Soon, they will be winging their way home after the children have reflected and completed their evaluations.

In computing this week, the children had the opportunity to explore with the Bee-bots and spent time familiarising themselves with the controls. We look forward to learning even more about commands and controlling their movements.

During PE, the children have been expanding their knowledge of different yoga poses and have welcomed the warm up and cool down. We also enjoyed target games inside this week, due to the adverse weather. The children have been developing the skill of throwing and catching a bean bag with the correct technique.

The children in Year 1 enjoyed ‘Take a Teddy to School Day’ this week. The children used phrases to describe their teddy, or soft toy, including the material it is made from and the texture of their toy. We also had so much fun drawing a detailed picture of their teddy alongside their writing.

On Monday 27th January, please can your child bring in an old toy, i.e. parents or grandparents in readiness for the toy museum later in the week. For homework, we ask that your child finds out as much information as they can about their old toy.

Why not take a look at the photographs capturing our week?

Thank you for your support at home, we greatly appreciate it.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
