Year 1 Blog 24.9.21

Date: 24th Sep 2021 @ 4:27pm

Friday 24th September

This week, we spent time looking at aerial photographs and identified the human and physical features we noticed. We went on to use our sketch books to complete observational drawings from aerial views and also for our super sunflowers.

We continued our discussions about the Creation story and took the opportunity to retell parts of it using our percussion instruments.

Currently, The Atkinson, in Southport, has a Captain Pugwash exhibition on, until the end of December. On Saturday 23rd October there will be a Pirate Day, including a magic show and the opportunity to dress up. We learn about pirates and explorers, during our Spring term, and you might like to seize the opportunity to enjoy it while it is on.

If you happen to have any unwanted, oversized T-shirts we would happily make use of them for our creative sessions.

On Wednesday 29th September, we have our Year One Welcome Meeting at 6:45pm. It will be via Google Classroom and we will send further information closer to the time. We look forward to seeing you there.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

If there are any queries, please contact our dedicated email.                                                                        [email protected]

With thanks.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
