What a wonderful week!

Time was spent learning about the interesting life of Sir Francis Drake and his adventures on the high seas. We discussed how opinions of him differed. Some saw him as a hero and explorer while others saw him as a pirate!

On Wednesday, we were treated to a visit from Alicia Everett, the author and illustrator of the Fuzzlehogs story. She shared her story with us and we are now able to enjoy her illustrations displayed around school too.

We celebrated World Book Day, on Thursday, and had fun dressing up as our favourite book characters – see which ones you can recognise on our photos! Our ‘Milk and Cookies’ evening continued the fun and some of the children came back to school in their outfits or their PJs for some bedtime stories. ZZZzzz…

Today, we were inspired by our first taster of Science Week. Next week, we look forward to more scientific investigations, and visitors. As you know, from the Spider message sent out, the children will be required to bring in a shoe box to use during their science project task. Please take a look at the Spider information letter for clarification.

Next Friday, is Comic Relief Red Nose Day 2024. A mufti day for us, and with the money raised, an opportunity to support communities around the world.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
