Friday 9th September

Welcome back!

Many thanks for your support as the children settle into their new classrooms and routines. We are so proud of them! They have certainly enjoyed sharing their holiday news and spending time together in the new ROLA!

This week, we completed some super science, thinking about our external body parts and naming them. We also thought about what our brilliant bodies can do.

In the week ahead, we will think about our different senses and how they help us. Number 21, will be our number of the week, and we will spend time fine tuning our number formation.

Home Learning books have come home, today, containing the Homework Grid, for the half term, the CEW (red words) to learn this half term and a number formation sheet.

Each Friday, reading books will be changed. Generally, the children will bring home a RWI book, a book from the school library and a book, of their choosing, from the class library. RWI books will start coming home from next Friday.

Home Learning, for each week, can be found by accessing the Home Learning button on the Year 1 class page. It is situated close to the top of the page.

As you will appreciate, the weather is quite changeable at the moment so it is essential that the children always have a waterproof coat with them.

Fruit and vegetables are provided for the children, each morning. You may, however, choose instead to send your child in with a specific fruit or vegetable from home to enjoy.

If there are any queries, please contact Mrs. Fegan, Miss O’Neill or Mrs. Page via the Year One email.

Many thanks for your continued support,

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
