Year 1 Weekly Blog 24.2.23

Date: 24th Feb 2023 @ 4:35pm

                                 Friday 24th February

This week, the children enjoyed their investigations around 2D and 3D shapes. They enthusiastically took part in a shape treasure hunt for 3D shapes and worked, in teams, to identify 2D shapes within the classroom. We know they will enjoy their further investigations at home.

We took the opportunity to introduce our golf unit. The children had lots of fun playing Rory says and developing their grip and swing. More to come next week.

Before the break, the children were excited to set up their Toy Museums and share their exhibits with their buddies and Year One friends. They were fabulous curators and had a wonderful time together. Take a look at the photos capturing the day.

Next week, we celebrate World Book Day and have the opportunity to dress as a favourite character. Our Milk and Cookies evening continues the fun and the children are welcome to return to school in their outfit or their PJs for some bedtime stories. Sweet dreams!

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
