Year 1 Weekly Blog (25. 6. 21)

Date: 23rd Jun 2021 @ 10:00am

Friday 25th June

We think it will be the plants and trees that have enjoyed a change to the weather, this week. Everywhere is looking a little greener!

We have continued with our wild plant hunts and identified examples around school. We also took time to look at the progress in our school garden, noticing the strawberries ad courgettes growing there. Several of which had their flower heads visible.

We thought about favourite holidays too and located them on maps and in our atlases. It was so interesting to learn about the different physical and human features in the various locations, both close to home and further afield.

Next week, in the Lighthouse Keeper’s Catastrophe, Mr Grinling locks Hamish in the lighthouse. His act of bravery saves the day, just like Grace Darling.  We look forward to learning even more about her. Have a fabulous weekend!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
