Year 2 blog 10.5.24

Date: 10th May 2024 @ 6:28am

What a lovely, sunny week it has been!

In Year 2 we have been finishing our modelled diary write and are very much looking forward to planning our own diary next week.

We have continued learning about time this week and the children are showing great progress, recognising time to 5 minutes, and telling the time to, instead of past. We have also been practicing how to write the time digitally. Please continue with the time assignments set on Doodle, we set a lot last week so keep going with them to consolidate what we have been learning in school.

During RE we spoke about what a teacher is, and the qualities they possess. We then related this to Jesus being a teacher and how he tried to teach people important values. We then looked at different scenarios they children could relate to and asked them in groups to think about how would Jesus want us to deal with these.

As historians we have been re-designed London, looking at how it was in 1666 and what improvements were made through time to make London how it is today. We have also taught the children a Great Fire of London rap, which I am sure they will happily perform for you!

When we came recently to garden our troughs, we discovered a birds nest in one! We have been so fortunate to witness the eggs hatching and we now have 5 baby chicks living outside our classroom. We have attached a picture and as you can imagine this is making the children very excited for when the living eggs come next term!

With the weather getting lovely and hot, the children are required to wear their school caps when playing outside. A few children have said they cannot find their hats in their lockers, if any school hats are at home, please could you bring them in - thank you!

We hope you have a lovely sunny weekend!

Take care,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
