Year 2 Blog 15.1.21

Date: 15th Jan 2021 @ 1:13pm

W/c 18th January

Well what an exciting week it’s been! It’s definitely been a learning week, especially in IT (for me anyway!)! But I think we’ve all done exceptionally well, especially the children who have soon learnt the skills of raising and lowering hands and mute and unmute very quickly! Though our attempt at singing Happy Birthday to Paramveer has left us room for improvement!

From next week we will be using the 2G and 2M classrooms so the children will be seeing more of their own teacher and in the case of 2M they will be getting to know Mr Beaumont as well. Hopefully with the children in their own classrooms they will also get more of a chance to answer questions and see each other.

Our day will begin at 9.00am for Morning Motivator, which we will mark at 9.20am, this will then lead us into the Maths session at 9.30am. Remember, that if you are unable to join us for the live session we will record them and post them onto the relevant classrooms. Also note that the children can choose between accessing the Morning Motivator, Easimaths or Educationcity.

The afternoon will begin at 1.15pm with a story and a talk through any afternoon activities. I’m particularly looking forward to Monday afternoon on Purple mash, where the children have to make their own quiz, I had great fun learning how to make one for Monday! Again, if you can’t make it on an afternoon the session will be recorded and activities such as the quiz on Monday will be available to complete all week.

We understand that for lots of you the situation of working from home and home schooling is a difficult one, lots of ‘plates spinning at the same time’. We have tried to make the planning flexible with optional activities for those who are able to fit them in. Please try to prioritise the Maths and English and please try to join us for some of the live sessions. Resources will be available on the school website, Y2 home learning page and on the Google classrooms.

Any queries please contact us direct at [email protected] this would really help the lovely office ladies and we should also be able to answer queries more quickly! If would like to share any of your child’s work please forward any photos etc... to this email, we would love to look at what the children are doing!

Finally, have a good weekend and thank you for your continued support!

Many thanks

The Year 2 team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
