Year 2 Blog 15.11.24

Date: 15th Nov 2024 @ 5:14pm

We have been getting into the Christmas spirit already in Year 2 with our nativity! We have been practicing different scenes this week and today we all went into the hall for a run through together. We are getting more confident with our lines and have tried on costumes, so we are looking forward to continuing next week.

In English we have begun our modelled postcard write of our Meerkat writing home to his family, detailing his travels whilst journeying to find the perfect Christmas. We have also looked at contractions (you're, wouldn't, I'm etc) and when to use an exclammation.

During Maths we have been covering our times tables, we have now finished looking at our 2,5 and 10s individually and we start looking at them mixed next week. We have also had lots of extra practice by using TTRockstars, playing shoot out and listening to fun Percy Parker songs.

We have been very busy Scientists this week, learning about different inventors, such as Charles Mckintosh who invented waterproof material, John McAdam who invented tarmac and John Dunlop who created pnuematic tyres. The children got busy experimenting which items around the classroom could bend, be squashed, be stretched or be twisted.

With it being anti-bullying week we have thought a lot about respect and how we can be a kind friend. The children had a special assembly and a live lesson, then created an acrostic poem for the word 'RESPECT'.

Ending the week with Children in need, it was lovely to see so much yellow and lots of spots today!

We hope you have a fabulous weekend,

Take care,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
