Year 2 blog 29.11.24

Date: 28th Nov 2024 @ 6:42am

In year 2 this week we have again been getting stuck into our nativity rehearsals. We have the stage up now and the children have really been impressing us with their confidence delivering their lines. We've been busy learning dances, songs, when to come on and off and we really can't wait to show you soon!

In Maths we have moved on to division, looking at how to share amounts equally, divide by 2 and also 5. The children are starting to understand how their times table knowledge can really help here so please keep up the great work with learning them.

During English we have been continuing with our modelled postcard write. This week we have been focusing on complex sentences, using brackets and adjectives. We only have a few lessons lefts now before the children start planning their own write.

In RE alongside our nativity we are looking at the story of Christmas and the good news that was brought that day. The children have created a good news booklet and have focused on the census, what the angels good news was and who it was delivered to.

We've been learning about Christmas in Japan and Spain this week. The children were fascinated to learn that in Japan they order KFC for their Christmas dinner and that Christmas Eve is the most romantic day in Japan, even more so than Valentine's Day. We looked at lots of Japans beautiful illuminations and the children wrote down their favourite facts and illustrated the pages in their 'Christmas around the world' booklet.

Have a lovely weekend!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
