Year 2 blog 30.6.23

Date: 30th Jun 2023 @ 6:36am

In Year 2 this week we have been getting creative making our habitat boxes. We were so thrilled with the results and how well the children had planned them and thought carefully about they would need to capture their chosen habitat.

During English we wrote instructions for how to look after our chicks and have also had time this week to take them out into the garden for a little play. It's been a fantastic experience for us all and we will really miss them.

We have loved using Scratch Jnr in computing and this week we have learnt how to create musical instruments for our icons to play.

With sports day looming we have started practicing for ours races this week!

A big well done to the girls in year 2 that represented us at the (football tournament name) today, they did fantastic and had a great time!

In Maths we have been looking at two step word problems, for example, if Miss Nelson and Mrs Groom had 20 apples altogether, but Miss Nelson had 6 more than Mrs Groom, how many apples do they each have?

We also had our transition morning on Thursday, I'm sure the children have told you lots about it. We are of course, going to miss every single one of them, but it's so lovely to see how excited they are to be moving to juniors.

Have a lovely weekend!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
