Year 2 Blog (6.12.24)

Date: 6th Dec 2024 @ 12:48pm

A very exciting week we have had in year two! We had our first Nativity performance today, a dress rehearsal to our year 6 buddies. The children did so well and delivered their lines and performances beautifully, we really can't wait for you to see their hard work next week. The children have spent a lot of the week rehearsing and after ironing out any kinks we are ready for next week! We have popped a few sneak peak images from our dress rehearsal today on the blog.

We started out Design Technology project this week, where we will be sewing a Christmas pouch. We started by designing our pouches, thinking about what design we wanted on the front, and what little details we could add on. They then used a running stitch to sew their pouch together. We were so impressed with their speed, concentration and ability when doing their running stitch, its evident they have been building on their skills since reception. We're looking forward to getting creative with the rest of our pouch design next week.

In English, we have finally finished our modelled write. The children signed off their postcard, ending with a postscript (P.S). When we come back next week we will be focussing on planning our own postcard, then starting our independent write.

We have been focusing on the story of the Nativity in RE through our performance but also through our 'good news' booklets. This week we spoke about the wise mens role in the nativity, and how we share the good news now. The children came up with ideas like sending Christmas cards, singing Christmas carols and retelling the story of the Nativity, just like we are!

We hope you all have a lovely festive weekend!

Take care,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
