Year 2 Blog 6.9.24

Welcome to Year 2! 

We have had a wonderful week getting to know the children and getting them settled in with their new surroundings and classroom routine. 

This week have have slowly started introducing the children to this terms topic 'Where We Live'. The children shared stories from their holiday and we looked at some of their holiday destinations on Google maps. 

In Maths we have started with place value, determining how many tens and ones make up different numbers, I.e 36 = 3 tens and 6 ones. 

During English we have introduced this terms focus book 'A Lion in Paris'. The children have been looking at different landmarks in Paris and London and beginning to form sentences thinking about why the lion might want to leave his home in the grasslands to visit Paris.

In PE we began our term with gymnastics, focusing on spinning, balancing and travelling. The children in pairs formed a short sequence using all three. 

We met our new Read Write Inc groups today and will begin on Monday.
