Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely half term, we have loved hearing about the children's adventure.

We've had an exciting week back, diving straight into our new topic 'A Material World'. We have been scientists, exploring different materials, looking at what material objects are made from and the suitability of some materials. The children have really enjoyed our hands on experiments and we look forward to getting more hands on in the weeks to come.

During maths we have started looking at our two times tables, counting in twos and groups of two. For more information please look at the home learning tab.

In English we started the week editing out stories from last term, going back over with fresh eyes, looking for missing capital letters, punctuation, words and any spelling mistakes. We then began looking at our next story 'A Meerkat Christmas' where our meerkat is on the hunt for a perfect Christmas. He then sends a postcard home detailing his adventure. We spent the day looking at postcards and the journey of a postcard, we were really lucky to receive a lot of postcards from staff and friends to look at. We then wrote our own postcard to our teacher telling them about our half term.

We ended the week with a fabulous day with Rock Kidz! The children all looked great getting in their rock gear and we had a rocking time! We based the day on resilience and the children along with two visits from rock kidz, spent the day problem solving with math questions, playing TTRockstars, challenging each other on Beebots and solving tangrams. The children showed brilliant resilience and never gave up even with the tricky problems!

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
