Year 2 blog

Date: 28th Mar 2025 @ 9:27am

Can you believe we only have one week to go! This term has flown, and we can only assume it's because we have been having so much fun with our Superhero topic! As you can imagine the children are very excited for Superhero Day on Tuesday. Please remember the children can come in dressed as a Superhero. Please don't worry about going out and buying anything new, we have lots of capes and masks in class.

We have come to the end of our modelled write in English and the children finished planning their own Superhero story today. They have began writing their own story and will finish next week, we are excited to see where their imagination has taken them.

In Maths we have began looking at 2D shape and will continue shape after Easter holidays. We focused on reminding ourselves the names of 2D shapes and counting each shapes sides and vertices.

During RE we looked at the Last Supper and the children recapped the story of Easter and what that meant for Jesus.

In Computing we looked at examples of edited photos and the children had to guess which picture is real and which is edited, we were all shocked by a lot of them!

We looked at how to stay safe with medicines in PSHE this week and the children made their own poster highlighting the important details when taking medicine or when their grown ups have medicine.

We hope you all have a sunny weekend and the children are ready for the last week of term!

Take care,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
