Year 2 Weekly Blog (1. 4. 22)

Date: 29th Mar 2022 @ 3:05pm

We have had a great final week in school before the Easter break.

This week, the children have learned about the Easter story, visited church, enjoyed the Year 5 production, made their very own Superhero and, of course, enjoyed their very own super special Superhero Day on Wednesday.  It has been a very busy and enjoyable week to end the school term.  Throughout this term, since the Christmas break, the children have continued to impress us every day with their attitude to their learning and their kindness to one another.  We are already looking forward to the summer term and can't wait to spend many more weeks together!

On Monday afternoon, the children thought very carefully and sensitively about the Easter story: talking about 'symbols of Easter', what they represent and why they are important.  We were very impressed with the work they produced in their R.E. books - as was Mrs Govan, who was also very keen to see what the children had been learning about and pleased to see the array of wonderful work the children had produced.  On Thursday, the children attended the Easter service at church which was led by our friends in Year 4 who did a terrific job at re-telling the Easter story for the congregation - well done Year 4!

On Tuesday, the school were treated to the very first performance of the Year 5 show called 'Rock Bottom'.  There was lots of brilliant dancing, singing and lots of funny jokes, too.  The children in Year 2 were a terrific audience and very much enjoyed the funny performance.  Everyone left the hall with a big smile on their face, talking about their favourite bits from the play.  In the afternoon, the children started to make their superhero models using wire, tape and old newspaper - thank you to all those children who brought in resources for the year group to use!  The children worked very well with their partners to start their models off; the children then finished them on 'Superhero Day' on Wednesday, and all the models look absolutely fantastic!

We hope you all have a great break and look forward to seeing you in a few weeks for the beginning of the summer term - the final term of the school year!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
