Year 2 weekly blog 12.7.24

Date: 12th Jul 2024 @ 6:35am

The last full week! How quickly has this year flown by? It seems like only yesterday the children were coming to year 2 for their transition days and now they're getting ready for juniors!

We've had a really fun week this week, with the highlight definitely being making our yummy healthy wraps! We spent most of the week looking at healthy foods and how to have a balanced diet, with a mix of carborhydrates, protein, diary and fruit & vegetables. The children put sorting through lots of different foods deciding which of the food catogories they fit into. We then had the brilliant food tasting! We were so impressed with all the children for trying new foods and also some foods they were adamant they didn't like. We were so pleased to find a large number of the children discovered at least one new food they liked. The children then designed three different wraps, and then picked their favourite to make. They used their culinary skills to chop up their ingredients and form into a delicious wrap. The children then tried their own wrap a long with three others where they evaluated all four wraps. It was a big success! Hopefully you might now have some new lunch requests!

The children have also been busy writing their own poem this week 'If I Were in Charge of the Universe'. We used our modelled write of 'If I Were in Charge of the School' and thought about what changes we would make to the universe and what it would take to be a good, fair leader.

We had a great time at sports day and were so relieved the rain stayed away! The children were great at their events and also supporting their other classes, we all had so much fun!

2GA also had a game of bench ball this week, which the children absolutley loved. It was wonderful seeing them all work as a team! Unfortunatley the rain came before 2M had the chance to go out!

To end our week, we finished with BREAK THE RULES DAY! We all had a great day sitting where we like, chatting and singing around school and showing off our individualities with our own clothes and hair styles.

Please remember to send your child in with a plastic bag on Monday if you have not already done so, they have a lot of books and work to bring home.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, the countdown is on!

Take care,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
