Wow, what an amazing week of performances! We are so proud of all the children for their excellent re-telling of the Nativity story. Throughout the week, we have had lots of lovely comments from teachers and children who enjoyed coming to watch. As well as performing, the children have been making Christmas cards, re-telling the story of the Nativity in words and pictures, and also making lots of Christmas crafts! In Maths, the children have been learning about length and how we can use rulers to measure different objects; the children had lots of fun during the week investigating their classrooms to see the different things that they could measure: pencils, workbooks, whiteboards and even each other!
On Monday, they performed superbly to the rest of the school - their first ever performance with an audience! The children in the audience sat beautifully and really enjoyed listening to the story being re-told and also the lovely songs! They even begged the children for an encore!
On Tuesday, we loved being able to welcome lots of family and friends to the school hall for our first 'matinee' performance! As on Monday, the children really shone and performed with great confidence and clear voices. There were a few moments when things didn't quite go to plan - the 'list' being the wrong way round, for instance! - but we loved how the children were able to problem solve on the stage to rectify any of these missteps.
On Wednesday, Reception, Year 4 and toddlers from Roots and Shoots came to enjoy the show. As well as performing the play for the third time, Wednesday was a very busy day for all of the children in school, in particular Year 2: Breakfast with Santa, performing the Nativity, Christmas lunch, and then P.E. in the afternoon! On Thursday, we had our grand finale: all of the children performed magnificently in the final showing of our Nativity. Thank you to everyone for coming, and thank you to all the parents and carers, friends and family who helped support their child over the past few weeks: helping them learn their lines, practising dance routines and moves and making sure they had everything they needed for their outfits. Well done, Year 2! We are proud of every one of you and have been so impressed with how mature, confident and expressive you were able to perform 'The Greatest Story Ever Told'!
On Friday, the children finished the week with a nice reward: their Christmas party! It was a great way to finish off the week, and finish the penultimate week of a busy, exciting and fun-filled half-term!
See you next week for our final few days before the Christmas break, and once again: well done Year 2!
