Year 2 Weekly Blog (18. 12. 20)

Date: 16th Dec 2020 @ 12:51pm

We have all had a terrific final week in school before the Christmas break.  We hope all of the children enjoy a well deserved break after working very hard over the past few weeks.

On Monday, the children thought carefully about the Nativity story and produced their own version of the story.  Mrs Groom and Miss McGarvey were both very impressed with the standard of writing - all of the children have made great progress since the start of the year.  Well done!

Tuesday was a very special day for all of the children in Year 2: breakfast with Santa, their Christmas party in the afternoon, and perhaps best of all: the the 'World Premiere' of their Nativity in the school hall in the morning!  They were even joined by some V.I.P guests (Mrs Cowey and Mrs Govan!) who were so proud and impressed with their performance.  In the afternoon, the children enjoyed playing lots of different party games in their classrooms.

The children have all made lots of Christmas crafts this week and hopefully they have managed to arrive home in one piece!

On Friday, the children watched their Year 6 buddies deliver the Christmas service and very much enjoyed listening to another re-telling of the Christmas story, as well as listening to other year groups singing some different hymns.

We hope you have enjoyed watching the Nativity performance on YouTube.  You can find the film on our school YouTube channel here.  Or watch below!

Take care and enjoy the break; see you in the New Year!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
