Year 2 Weekly Blog 18.10.24

Date: 18th Oct 2024 @ 3:54pm

The children, this week have worked so hard, we have been super busy, lots of writing, lots of maths and a big walk to church!

We are in the middle of our big write this week, with the children choosing which animal they have visiting Paris. We have some kangeroo's taking a taxi there, a few monkeys hopping on a plane and a sloth sailing to Paris. We are really enjoying watching the childrens imagination come to life with their first big write. We can't wait to read them when they are done.

We recapped Hannukah in RE this week, the children played a game of dreidel like they do during Hannukah and we looked at a real menorah and mezuzah. We thought about why Hannukah is special to Jewish people and how they feel God is always with them because of the miracles he performed.

On Thursday, we visited church with our buddies (which we always love!) and had a lovely service for St Luke's Day, some of the children were surprised to find out that St Luke was a doctor! When we returned from church, we created maps which showed the route we took and everything we passed, which was clearly labelled with a key. The children have loved all the map work this term!

In outdoor games we focused on our ball skills, throwing, catching, shooting and target practice. The children partnered up to throw and catch balls in a hoop, moving on to some footwork where we had a little game of shoot out!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend, thank you to those who came to parents evening last night, it was lovely to see you all, and we look forward to seeing the rest of you next week!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
