Year 2 Weekly Blog 21.6.24

Date: 21st Jun 2024 @ 1:48pm

What a difference a sunny week makes! The sunshine has been out and we have all had a lovely week in year 2.  The children this week have all worked incredibly hard and we just want to take a moment to commend them for that.

Without a doubt the highlight of our week was of course making our Habitat Boxes! The children had excellent ideas and emerged themselves in this project. We have loved seeing the range of habitats, from rainforests and woods to the artic and ocean, there has been a fabulous use of materials and creativity! We spent most of our afternoons painting, creating, cutting, sticking and working on our habitat boxes and they have turned out great!

We spent the rest of our afternoons researching the ocean as a habitat, tropical habitats, artic habitats and desert habitats. We looked at the different animals and plants in each and how to describe the conditions of each habitat finishing with the children drawing and labelling a lovely picture of a habitat.

I am positive you have already been told by the children that Monday is a VERY exciting day in Year 2 as the living eggs arrive! We are hopeful with the warm weather they should be hatching earlier this year. The children are beside themselves so apologies if you hear about it all weekend!

Have a wonderful weekend in this glorious weather!

The year 2 team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
