Year 2 weekly blog

Date: 7th Jun 2024 @ 3:17pm

Welcome back! Can you believe it's the last term? What a term this will be though! We have so many exciting things coming up, it's going to be a very busy, enjoyable term.
We have introduced the children to our new topic 'A Walk on the Wild Side' where we will be looking at different animals, life cycles and habitats! Please check the spiders that have gone out this week for more information on two of our upcoming projects, our habitat boxes and stick transformation. We're also very much looking forward to our trip to Martin Mere, designing, making and eating wraps and of course the arrival of the living eggs!

This week we were very fortunate to have a visit from Music Squad who gave us a well being music workshop. The children were given the opportunity to sing and play the keyboard, it was great to listen to and we were very impressed with those who were brave enough to try a keyboard solo!

We had a great PE session this week led by Mr Smith, focusing on team building and strong communication. The children had various activities they had to parttake in with their teams and did a fantastic job!

During Maths we have been looking at word problems focusing on time and measurement and during English the children wrote about all their half term adventures which was great to read, it sounds like a lot of fun was had!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Take care,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
