Year 3 Blog 01.03.24

Date: 1st Mar 2024 @ 3:53pm

It’s been another exciting and busy week in Year 3, the highlight being creating our pneumatic toys! The children will decorate their toys on Monday afternoon, during our D.T. lesson.

In maths this week, we have continued our learning on fractions, in particularly equivalent fractions. The children understand that whatever you do to the top, you must do to the bottom. They are also familiar with the term’s ‘numerator’ and ‘denominator.’

In English this week, the children have continued their factual, non-fiction writing based on natural disasters. The children have included verbs, adverbs, onomatopoeias, alliterations, sub-headings and similes their writing. The children are building up to creating their own non-chronological report on their chosen natural disaster, for example: earthquakes, tsunamis, avalanches, volcanoes etc.

In P.E. this week, the children have ‘wowed’ with their throwing and catching technique in Handball. They have been taught how to correctly throw and catch a handball, including the rules of a handball game. Our indoor P.E. this half term is Athletics. On Friday, the children competed in a serious of sprints against their peers! We were delighted by the technique and focus during this lesson!

Upcoming in Year 3: Thursday 7th March is WORLD BOOK DAY!

Thank you to all the parents who attended Parents’ Evening over the last couple of weeks. It was a pleasure meeting you all. Thank you for your continued support, in school, and at home, we really appreciate it!

Have a lovely, restful weekend and we will see you bright and early on Monday morning!

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
